Race 1 Results (MXGP + Mx2)

Max Anstie led from start to finish to the delight of the home crowd. Coldenhoff technically claimed the hole shot but Anstie passed the dutchman before the next corner.

The first big drama was Dean Ferris having to come from last then Cole Seely tipped over and had his rear shock collapse a couple of laps later! Tommy Searle then exited the race due to a clutch problem.

At the front of the field however, Anstie opened out a 10 second lead which he maintained the whole race, though it was nearly threw away when Cole Seely appeared to break check Anstie when he was getting lapped.

Paulin looked to be a steady second but Tim Gajser put on a strong charge, at times going 5 seconds a lap quicker than the french man and the Brit. However when Gajser passed Paulin Anstie responded and brought the victory home.

Lawrence was top Mx2 rider and finished a mightily impressive 4th after catching and passing Tonus at the end.

Max Anstie says, “It was the longest race of my life. Backmarkers getting in my road but I can’t wait to for the next race to go out and do it again for the fans! It feels so good.”

Team Ireland’s Stuart Edmonds had a good start just outside the top 10 and even tried to pass USA’s Seely before the factory honda rider crashed. However a crash mid race dropped him down the order. Martin Barr had a worse start however and was outside the top 30. At the finish Barr crossed the line behind Edmonds the guys earning 24th and 25th and 15th in the Nations standings.

France head into race two with a 3 point lead over The Netherlands.
