Motocross Des Nations heads to Assen in 2019!

The Netherlands have finished twice two years in a row at the Motocross Des Nations and came agonisingly close to winning the event in 2016 as they finished a point behind France.

Next year, the Motocross Des Nations is heading to the man made sand track in Assen and it’s setup to be a superb event. The Dutch fans are known for their passion and with a good chance of winning the event if everything falls into place the atmosphere will be electric, especially underneath the Assen grandstand!

In terms of the track at Assen, it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it does usually provide some great racing and the track gets very rough and challenging for the riders.

The GP at Assen already gets a huge crowd and the grandstand is fully packed with fans, it will be interesting what chances Youthstream make to the track for the Des Nations to accommodate an even bigger crowd. Also, the track isn’t as long as many of the other GP tracks as the lap time is around the 1.40 mark. Perhaps, they’ll make the track longer – that’s certainly an option. The facility at Assen is absolutely first class so in that respect it’s a great venue for the Motocross Des Nations.

The Dutch riders know how to ride the sand but perhaps for the first time in a long time next year they’ll have a bit of pressure on their shoulders racing in front of their home crowd who will be wanting them to contest for the win – will the riders be able to handle the pressure?

One thing that’s guaranteed is the Dutch fans will be out in full force!
