More EMX250 Championship points for Sydow in Italy!

More EMX250 Championship points for Sydow in Italy!

After two hard pack rounds of the EMX250 series, it was time for some more sand riding at Ottobiano in Italy. The track is known to get very rough and also the hot weather made it even more challenging for the riders. The WZ Racing team only had one rider behind the start gate for round seven of the series due to injuries so all the focus was on the young Jeremy Sydow.

During timed practice the track was pretty flat as the EMX250 riders are out early on Saturday morning. WZ Ktm rider, Jeremy Sydow posted the tenth quickest time in group two.

In the first race, Sydow didn’t manage to get a good start at all as he buried down in twentieth after the first lap. The young German couldn’t find his normal race pace during the first few laps and actually dropped back to twenty-fourth at one stage. However, he started to find his rhythm and he got back to a solid sixteenth at the chequered flag.

There’s always a lot of drama in the early laps of any EMX250 championship race and it’s important to stay out of it. Unfortunately, at the start of the second moto, Sydow collided with another ride and the WZ KTM rider ended up hitting pit lane. It meant he was dead last on the first lap with a lot of work to do. Sydow was twenty-first on the last lap but was battling hard with Todd Kellett for that last championship point.  Unfortunately, Sydow just missed out by .037 of a second! How the WZ KTM rider would have loved another few laps as points surely would have been on the cards, he just ran out of time.

By finishing sixteenth in the first moto, Sydow picked up five more championship points and ended up twentieth overall.

This weekend the WZ KTM racing team will focus on the fifth round of the ADAC MX Masters Championship.

Jeremy Sydow: “My time during timed qualifying wasn’t too bad but it was only tenth place in my group.  At the start of the first race, I was “sleeping” during the first three laps and lost many positions. After that I found my rhythm and had a good speed. I was able to finish the moto in sixteenth. In race two a rider kicked me into the pit lane, so I came from dead last to 21. I was a little bit frustrated to miss the points but I gave my best”.
