Mike Alessi knocked off bicycle!

Mike Alessi was knocked off his bicycle by a vehicle travelling at 70 miles an hour but has fortunately survived to tell the tale.

Alessi however did require staples in his head and stitches in his elbow but, judging by the state of his bike, he is lucky it wasn’t much, much worse.

“It was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me,’ commented Alessi and that’s from a man who got knocked unconscious over several times at Red Bud a few years ago!

God is good!!! I was hit on my road bike this am around 8:20 on US HWY 1 in Callahan, Florida by a red truck. The driver fled the scene of the accident. I want to thank every single person who stopped and/or turned around to help me and get me medical attention. Some of the witnesses are saying it was a red truck with a black hood, seemed to be in the year range of 05-09 (only say that because of the body style) the rear end was lowered a little bit, not much, but enough to tell it didn’t sit straight. It had darker tinted windows, a lime green sticker on the passenger side but they can’t remember if it was on the back glass on the passenger side or one of the side windows…. I just got released from the hospital and am home now. I have a huge cut and hematoma on the top of my head that required 10 staples. My elbow has stitches and my back/butt are covered in road rash. The driver was going approximately 70+ mph when the vehicle hit me. I am just so thankful to be alive right now. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me!! If anyone has any information on this driver or saw this vehicle on the road this am and can remember anything please reach out to me or my wife.

Things that make you loose faith in humanity … @mikealessi_800 doing an honest @mypowerdot challange putting in his daily cycling miles gets mowed down at 8am in the morning by a careless red pick truck on a Florida bike route. The Driver promptly sped away and left him in a bloody heap bruised and banged up on the road side. A trip to the hospital followed by staples in his head and stitches in his elbo … @mikealessi_800 lives to ride again …
