Meara Brother’s on their opening Irish Championship

John started of the day with a steady third place, second race he got into second and put his head down to make a run for the lead but unfortunately collided with a back marker and went down. After making a pit stop for a goggle change he then brought it home in 8th. The final race of the day John made a third place start and quickly made his way to the lead and set sail for a convincing win.
Jason made a bad start in race one before taking a nasty crash. After picking himself up he made a pit stop to straighten his bike out and worked his way from dead last back to a hard earned 8th. Race two another terrible start with two crashes he managed to pick up a 3rd place finish on the final lap. Race three saw a better start for Jason away in the top six, he made his way into second by lap three and was able to match Johns times for a few laps before fading towards the end on a rough race track.
Overall not the worst of days for the team considering some bad luck, on to the next one!
John Meara (MX1 Second Overall): The day started off not so good with a bike problem only allowing me to get 2 laps in qualifying which gave me seventh gate pick. Race 1 I hadn’t a great start but worked my way up to p3 but rode very tight from the gate drop due to lack of track time. Race 2 had another poor start but I worked my way into second. I had just set sights on the leader and collided with a back marker resulting in a crash. I also crashed a further time and made a pit stop for goggles finally bringing an eventful race home for eighth. The last race I got a good start and got into the lead early on lap 1. I put my head down and charged and built up a good gap on the opening laps allowing me to ride a relatively smooth mistake free race finally bringing home the win. Coming out of round one with second overall, I’m more than happy and looking forward to getting more races under my belt.
Jason Meara (MX1 Third Overall): Rough start to the day with a big crack hitting my head pretty hard and some muscle pain in my neck, 2 silly crashes in race 2 but road good towards the end finishing 3rd with almost getting second on the line, with a decent start in race 3 I got into second quite quickly but John had already pulled a big gap I was able to match his pace for a while but wasn’t able to close the gap but overall to come away with 3rd overall at round one I’m happy.
