With the first round of the Maxxis British Championship postponed, the Revo Husqvarna outfit have decided to contest the first round of the Dutch Masters motocross taking place this weekend at Markelo with Martin Barr participating at the event.

It’s a good chance for Barr to ride with plenty of riders in the EMX250 and MX2 World championship to see what his speed is like before the first round of the EMX250 series at Redsands.

It will be interesting to see how Barr gets on racing a new championship in the deep rough sand.

We spoke with his team manager Mark Yates who had the following to say, “Obviously Lyng being cancelled was a little disappointing for the team but we fully understand the decision made by Stuart Drummond and better to know early rather than later. As a team we were looking forward to Lyng coming off the back of a very successful HIMX with hopes of some good results. That said we have been given an opportunity to do the Dutch Masters this weekend in MX2 which will a large pool of GP riders and give Martin a chance to compete at a high level ahead of our first European round in Spain in two weeks. Unfortunately with it being over subscribed we will only be running one rider. Mel was relaxed about doing it when we all discussed it and wasn’t as fussed so it was agreed we would take Martin. Hopefully Martin will continue and show the form he exhibited at Hawkstone and can have a successful weekend”.

Martin Barr: “With the British championship being cancelled this weekend it was a no brainer to source out another event to race and with the Dutch championship being on and all the gp big hitters there doing it, it made since to do it! You can’t beat racing and if I didn’t do this race before my first European in two weeks time then I wouldn’t have raced since hawkstone international which would be 7 weeks by the time redsand comes round, so for me it’s perfect prep with some of the best Mx2 riders in the world being there! I have to say a big thank you to my team Revo Husqvarna for letting me do it and giving me 100% backing to do it!im just looking forward to getting behind the gate and preparing for the season ahead!”
