Mairis Pumpurs leaves MJC Yamaha – uncertain future!

Young Latvian talent, Mairis Pumpurs had a good start to the EMX125 season in Matterley Basin after finishing eleventh in the first moto. It looked like he was in store for a good season but at the second round at Faenza he injured his ACL.

Pumpurs has since had an operation and is on the road to recovery with the hope of getting back on the bike in January to prepare for the new season.

The Latvian has revealed that he’s left the MJC Yamaha team which means he’s on the lookout for a ride in 2021. Pumpurs will be moving up to the 250cc so hopes to secure a ride for the EMX250 series.

“Im sad to notify that the partnership between me and YME (Yamaha Motor Europe) is ended which means I have no ride for 2021 there. But anyways I would like to say huge thank you to @yamaharacingcomofficial and @team_yamaha_europe_mjc_ for all the good memories and huge experience. I can say only good words about people working there – the best! I was glad to represent this #bLUcRU program as a winner! Even though still I couldn’t show my best performance and beast which is inside me due my injury, I’m proud of things I did this season while going through times. But anyhow huge thanks to whole Yamaha and Team MJC crew.
Whatever my future holds for me, I’m always ready to hop on next chapter and do my best”, Pumpurs stated on social media.
