Mads Sjøholm update after being in an induced coma
Danish rider, Mads Sjøholm had been contesting the EMX open championship this year but took a crash at the final round at Arco di Trento during the free practice session.
Sjøholm was put in an artificial coma for four days before waking up. The Danish rider has given an update on his condition and unfortunately he’s currently paralyzed from his chest down.
This is the down side to the sport we all love so much – we would like to wish Sjøholm all the best with his rehabilitation and hope he can make a full recovery.
“Hi everyone, here’s just an update on me after my accident. I am miraculously alive because of the great expertise and speed on the field in Italy and able to post this on my own. It turned into 4 days in an artificial coma – but crazy to get rid of a bad main trauma under these circumstances. I’ve been paralyzed from my chest down due to big fractures on my back and damaged nerves. The doctors don’t guarantee anything, but at the same time they don’t exclude the possibility of improvement, so I have to start the most important rehabilitation course of my life. All your thoughts and messages really mean everything, although I probably won’t get the answer to you all. Thank you and see you”, Sjøholm stated on social media.
