KTM Diga Junior Racing team signs Emil Jönrup

After the longterm signing of Emil Weckman the KTM Diga Junior Racing team continues to build its rostrum for 2019 and beyond. The Belgian team has secured the services of Sweden’s Emil Jönrup (15) to race the EMX125 series.

Jönrup is currently third in the Nordic 125cc championship and posted 12th place  EMX125 moto finishes in Valkenswaard and Trentino. For Emil 2018 has been a season with mixed results. The KTM rider was consistently one of the top performers in Scandinavia but so far he struggled to replicate that same kind of form in the EMX125 championship. However Jönrup got himself noticed in the first moto of the Latvian round where he claimed the holeshot and led for five laps.

The talented youngster from Varberg had a standout year in 2016 when he bagged the Dutch, Swedish and North-Western European 85cc titles.

Emil Jönrup: “I’m really happy to have signed with KTM Diga Junior Racing. I’ve already spend a little bit of time to train together with them a few weeks ago. Which has been the perfect way to get to know each other! I’m now looking forward to finish the season strong and work hard towards our goals for 2019. I want to win the Dutch Masters of Motocross 125cc title and get a top-5 overall in EMX125.”

Dirk Saelen, team manager: “I’m pleased to have signed Emil not only because we think he has a good potential but also because he has the right attitude to learn and improve. We think that with the right support Jönrup can turn a few heads in the EMX125 next year. Obviously we are also delighted to have a plan in place for more years. Next year will be an important one in Emil’s development but we’re confident that he has a bright future in EMX250 as well.”
