Kane wants more after Portugal!

The second round of the WMX series was held in Portugal at the weekend. Despite plenty of rain in the build up to the race the organisers done a brilliant job with the track and it was in superb conditions for the first WMX race of the weekend.

Kane struggled with her starts at the first round of the series but they were better in Portugal. At the end of the first lap she was in eighth on her Honda and she worked her way up to an impressive fifth by the end which was a good result. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Kane run in the top five in the series so it’s nice to see her back where she belongs.

After plenty of overnight rain and with the WMX race out first on Sunday the track was completely different for race two and it was a bit of a mud race.

The second race didn’t go quite as well due to the trickier conditions but she came home in eleventh to secure ninth overall which see’s Kane sit seventh in the WMX series.

Hopefully she can get a top five start soon so she can put herself in a better position from the first lap to battle with the heavy hitters.

Natalie Kane: I just wasn’t feeling good all weekend. I had some stomach cramps and just feeling a little off in general. Getting caught up and stuck with people in qualifying also didn’t help me get a good feeling but race one I got a decent start and could get a 5th place but I still wasn’t satisfied with my riding.

On Sunday we were out first to race, it was shitty after the rain. For me it was just a struggle from the beginning with my goggles breaking from a stone out of the 1st turn (must have been the only one stone on that hill and it managed to hit me! But I put myself in that bad position out of the gate so no one to blame for that only myself.

A lot of things didn’t go to plan this weekend but the main problem was myself. I was just over thinking it and not able to relax and instead of being at one with the bike, I felt like we battled all weekend.
