Joel Roelants dad to contest the Dakar Rally

Joel Roelants dad to contest the Dakar Rally

Joel Roelants father, Walter Roelants will head to the Dakar Rally in January at the age of 60 years old to contest the event. Roelants has decided to do this to raise money for the To Walk Again foundation.

Joel Roelants crashed out during the 2014 MXGP of Italy at Maggiora which left him paralysed.

To Walk Again was and still is an important part of the ongoing rehabilitation process. What the organization has meant for Joel, and his father, is indescribable. Even though Joël is paralyzed, without To Walk Again he wouldn’t be where he is today. The organization has helped to ensure that Joel is stronger than ever today.

“I am Walter Roelants and I ask for your support. On January 3, 2021, a dream will come true. I will be at the start of the one and only DAKAR Rally in Saudi Arabia. To be honest, I still can’t quite believe it… My goal? Just under two weeks later, on January 15, riding over that rather infamous finish line. If that succeeds, as a 60-year-old I would be the oldest Belgian solo motorcycle rider ever to finish! That is why I want to support 100% with my participation in the Dakar Rally To Walk Again”, Roelants stated.
