Jed Beaton on his podium in Portugal!

Jed Beaton on his podium in Portugal!

It was a great weekend for the F&H Racing team in Ageuda as Jed Beaton give the team their first MX2 Grand Prix podium. Not only that but Adam Sterry and Ruben Fernandez also secured good results so all three riders ended up in the top ten on the day. Jorge Prado won the GP in Ageuda with Pauls Jonass holding onto the red plate.

After taking his best qualifying result of the season, Beaton was hoping to use the good gate pick to his advantage and that’s exactly what he done as he took a good start and was in third on the first lap. After Covington pulled out of the race, the Aussie was sitting in second but was locked in a battle with World Champion, Pauls Jonass and Thomas Kjer Olsen. Beaton just lost out to Jonass but took him a brilliant third position in race one.

Sterry took a solid start as he was sitting in eighth on the first lap and he worked his way as high up as fifth before Ben Watson made a move but sixth was still a good result. As for Fernandez, he took a huge crash when in fourth during the qualifying race but thankfully he was all good to race. He brough his F&H Kawasaki Racing machine home for a solid twelfth.

Before the start of the second moto, Beaton knew a podium was on the line but with a good start he put himself in a good position as he was sat in fourth on the first lap. He was able to pass and pull away from Pauls Jonass. However, Ben Watson found his way past the Aussie but a fourth place finish in the second moto was enough to clinch his second podium in the MX2 World Championship. Beaton also moves up to fifth in the championship which is very impressive for the rookie.

Sterry put in another solid ride for ninth to secure seventh overall which is a step in the right position for the Brit. Spanish talent, Ruben Fernandez came home in thirteenth to secure tenth overall which is his best GP of the season so far.

Jed Beaton: “It’s always good to be on the podium; that’s what we all aim for! The track was tough but I started with a good qualification on Saturday; the ground was really soft after all the rain they have had here and there were many ruts but I like the technical tracks and had a lot of fun riding here. Everything gelled together and I really enjoyed this weekend. My season is building with the help of the team and Kawasaki and I feel like I’m getting better on all sorts of track. It was a nice surprise to make the podium already here at the fifth round of the series and for sure we will continue to progress further.”

Nathalie Fasé: “We are very happy with the performances of all three riders. After the crash on Saturday, it is super that Ruben has been able to finish both motos and has ended up in tenth overall. Three of our riders in the top ten and our first podium is the icing on the cake! The Fasé family and the entire F&H Racing Team would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support and trust. And of course, congratulations because this is also your podium!”
