Injury update: Julien Lieber

JM Honda Racing’s Julien Lieber (25) sat out the opening round of the FIM MXGP World Championship in Matterley Basin. The talented Belgian experienced too much discomfort in his left wrist and successfully underwent minor surgery today at AZ Herentals.

Hand-wrist specialist Dr. Sofie Goeminne performed the surgery under supervision of renown sports surgeon Dr. Toon Claes. “Julien’s operation went well,” reassured Dr. Claes. “Only now we know exactly what the extent of the damage to his wrist is. The inflammation was causing the most problems, but we cleaned out everything and the joint is stable. That’s very positive news.”

Lieber will start rehabilitation immediately and needs to come back for a check up in three weeks time. He’s expected to get the green light to start riding again if his recovery goes according to plan.
