HRC Honda won’t have a third MXGP rider in 2019!

Marcus Pereira de Freitas who has taken the role of HRC General Manager has confirmed that the HRC Honda team won’t be signing a third rider for the MXGP World Championship in 2019.

Speaking to Geoff Meyer of MxLarge, Marcus had the following to say when asked about signing a third MXGP rider.

“For the moment, we will have the same program for next year. Same team, Tim (Gajser), Calvin (Vlaanderen) and Brian (Bogers) that will be the three riders that we have for next year. I think the rumours around are normal because the riders with no seats have to look for something, right?”

“We will have three riders next year, one MX2 and two MXGP. There’s no chance for change next year, we don’t see any reason to change”.

The HRC Honda team had been linked to Max Anstie and Glenn Coldenhoff but the general manager has confirmed that won’t be the case. Coldenhoff has recently signed with Standing Construct KTM but Max Anstie is still on the look out for a ride. With HRC Honda ruling themselves out of a third MXGP rider, Yamaha might be the only available factory team for Anstie left with all the other factories line up’s already looking secure.
