Horgmo ninth overall in France!

Horgmo ninth overall in France!

After a bad weekend in Matterley Basin, Kevin Horgmo had a much better weekend in France despite the difficult conditions in the second moto after overnight thunderstorms. The CreyMert KTM rider ended up fourteenth and ninth in the moto’s to secure ninth overall. Unfortunately, his young team mate, David Braceras couldn’t score any points in the EMX125 class.

EMX125:

The weekend got off to a good start for Braceras as he qualified straight through for the main races, he posted the tenth quickest time in his qualifying group. However, he was left playing catch up in the first moto as he reacted before the gate drop and it meant he hit the gate. The young Spaniard was dead last of the start which wasn’t ideal. Braceras worked his way through the pack and got as high as twenty-third but then he took a crash which meant he couldn’t finish any better than thirtieth.

After an overnight thunderstorm conditions were totally different for the second moto, it was a case of survival. Braceras was sitting in a good tenth position but unfortunately crashed. It took him a while to get going again which meant points were out of the question but he ended up twenty-sixth. The Spaniard definitely has the speed for some good results but needs to minimize the mistakes.

EMX250:

Horgmo is always comfortable putting in a fast lap during qualifying and that continued in France as he put in the second quickest time in his group just over a second slower than Moreau. Horgmo took a decent start in the second moto as he was in eleventh and he held that position until the fifth lap when he collided with Josh Spinks. The CreyMert KTM rider dropped three positions but came home in fourteenth, solid points on the board which was positive.

Despite the trickier conditions for the second moto, Horgmo dealt with them well. After a disastrous start outside the top twenty things weren’t looking good but the Norwegian showed some great speed. He battled his way all the way up to sixth in what was a great ride. After picking up no points in the UK, it was important for Horgmo to regroup in France and that’s exactly what he did finishing a solid ninth overall.

David Braceras: “The weekend started good with a 10th in the time practice, but after I had some bad luck. In the first moto I made a mistake at the start and started 40th and had two crashes in the moto. In the second moto, it was a mud race, when I was riding in 10th I crashed in one downhill and it wasn’t possible to finish the race. The next race is Lommel.

Kevin Horgmo: “The speed was good in the time practice, but I struggled in race 1. On Sunday I excelled in the difficult conditions and rode strong”.

Next race:

The team heads to Italy this weekend for the EMX250 series that continues in Ottobiano.
