Horgmo impresses in Ottobiano!

At a hot and sandy Ottobiano track in Italy, Kevin Horgmo brought his A game and if it wasn’t for crash at the start of the second moto, the young CreyMert rider might have been on the podium. A 4-14 scorecard meant the young Norwegian ended up a solid tenth overall.  Roan van de Moosdijk walked away with the victory and Mathys Boisrame kept hold of the championship lead.

EMX250:

Horgmo was in the first group of EMX250 qualifying on a flat and smooth track – conditions changed for the races but nonetheless, the 17-year-old posted the fifth quickest qualifying time in group one to earn a solid gate pick.

Horgmo took a good start in the first moto of the weekend which is important in the EMX250 series as there’s always a lot of drama and riders crashing. The CreyMert KTM rider was sat in seventh at the end of the first lap. Horgmo made moves on Lawrence, Moreau and Renaux to earn himself a good fourth spot in the first moto. In fact, Horgmo was less than four seconds behind the race winner in what was a tightly contested affair, at times he was the fastest rider on the track so it was a positive moto.

With a podium on the cards, it was important to take another good start in moto two. However, Horgmo went down at the very start of the race. It left him with a lot of work to do but he charged his way through the pack. At around the half way mark, Horgmo managed to get himself into the top twenty but he pushed on and crossed the line in fourteenth. It was a good recovery ride under the circumstances and if there was another few laps left he’d probably made a few more passes. There’s no doubt that the young Norwegian talent had the pace for a podium this weekend so it will give him something to build on before round eight of the series. He also dealt with the hot conditions well which is a positive.

Kevin Horgmo: “It was a positive weekend. I felt strong and fast all weekend long. I could push all moto and had good lap times. Unfortunately, the crash on the first lap of race two kept me away from the podium”.

Next race:

The team has some time off now with the next race taking place on the 14th and 15th July when the final round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross will take place at the famous Zwarte Cross event at the Lichtenvoorde circuit.
