Jeffrey Herlings is obviously well known for his sand riding but it was the German hard pack track of Teutschenthal that has worked out perfectly for the Dutch rider as he’s extended his points lead over Tony Cairoli in the championship standings.

Coming into the weekend twenty-nine points separated the pair but Herlings has now opened up a forty-eight points gap in the championship which could prove to be very telling with regards to the title fight.

Herlings discussed his weekend which he described as a “dream come true kind of weekend”.

On his starts..

I didn’t get the holeshots today, I did yesterday but not today. In the second moto I actually nearly got one but then I went wide and Gautier (Paulin) out-dragged me to the line so he got both of them. I think this is fine for me, even if I’m starting in second that’s still good, I’m happy with that.

On his riding..

The riding was really good in both moto’s, I couldn’t have wished for anything else. I was leading during every single lap yesterday and the entire weekend so I’m very pleased. I don’t really know what to say but it was a dream come true kind of weekend and I really enjoyed my time here so up to the next one!

On the track..

With a weekend like this, maybe it should be my favourite track (laughs). No, just kidding, there’s not a particular track that I don’t really really not like but if you asked me if I’d prefer Lommel or Teutschenthal then I’d probably say Lommel. But still, it’s not that I hate this track it’s just not one of my favourites. I think they prepped the track better today (Sunday) than it was yesterday (Saturday). There were some more lines but obviously I didn’t really have to pass except for some lapped riders so I don’t know how it was to overtake as a rider but riding wise it felt more rough, better and more lines.
