Herlings has been dealing with a recent injury

During the lockdown period many riders used it to put in plenty of laps as the MXGP World Championship restart is approaching fast. However, as Jeffrey Herlings was just starting to step up his bike time when he crashed and as a result lost some bike time – he’ll not be the best prepared heading into Latvia.

“I did have a crash several weeks ago and was slightly injured”, Herlings admitted to Brabants Dagblad. “That’s why me and the team decided to take it easy, a decision taken some weeks ago.”

When pressed on the matter, he confessed that he suffered mild concussion. “It was a very small concussion, but it didn’t affect me at all. The thing is with these injuries that it can be different from one day to another, you never know how it works out. So I took a week off riding and then started again”, Herlings concluded.

We saw in Axel that whilst he might not be 100% fit, the speed isn’t an issue so his performance in Axel will give him confidence heading into round three of the MXGP World Championship at Latvia.
