Fantic in the EMX125 class for 2020: The details
Fantic Motor and Yamaha Motor Europe are bringing their industrial cooperation to the next level in an important industrial collaboration in the Off-Road sector. It will see Fantic make a return to the Motocross world in 2020 as it’s been confirmed they’ll be present in the GP paddock next year.
Corrado Maddii is the man behind the new Fantic Motocross project as he’ll run the team. Despite a recent press release stating, “In Motocross, Fantic Motor factory bikes will be run by Team Maddii Racing”, that’s incorrect as the team will be known as the Fantic racing team and completely separate from the Maddii Racing team which Corrado’s son, Marco runs.
In terms of riders, we can confirm that exciting Italian talent, Andrea Bonacorsi has signed to race the Fantic in the EMX125 class – he should be right at the front of the pack. As well as the EMX125 class, he will also contest selected EMX250 races on the Fantic.
As well as Bonacorsi, the team have signed up another young Italian in the form of Andrea Rossi who they hope can step up for the season ahead.
“Going to the Fantic Racing team and racing with a totally new bike will not be an easy thing but we are here for that. The bike is already quite good but we are working hard to get to the top. For next year we will work hard to stay ahead”, Bonacorsi told GateDrop.com.
“I’m happy to start this cooperation with an Italian company and keep working with the 125cc and 250cc 2stroke. I know well all the people involved in this project and I think we have a great Team. Our goal is to compete in the EMX125 and EMX2t classes, I believe that our riders have the potential to fight at the top but there is no pressure from our side. The riders are Andrea Bonacorsi and Andrea Rossi, they both have experience on the 125cc and next year can be a good season for them. My son Marco will run the Husqvarna junior Maddii Racing and we will have two separate teams next year”, Corrado Maddii told us.
