Dutch PM announces no sport events until the 1st of September

Last week it was announced that both Germany and Belgium have banned any mass gatherings until at least the 31st of August as things currently stand and the Netherlands are the latest country to enforce this decision.

The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte has confirmed in a press conference earlier today (21st April), that no sport will take place in the Netherlands until at least the 1st of September. The decision came from many mayors in the Netherlands and now provides more clarity for the future after many thought they were in the dark.

“We will certainly not be able to handle the risks in the coming months, and we want to provide organizers with clarity. That means no Pinkpop, Zwarte Cross and no paid professional football either. That is irritating, but we will have to make that sacrifice”, the prime minister stated.

“Corona has hit us hard with no events until the 1st of September in The Netherlands! Hopefully it’s for the better of our health”, Lars van Berkel stated on social media.
