Disppointment for Revo Husqvarna in France

REVO Husqvarna UK riders Martin Barr and Mel Pocock had to dig deep at a testing MXGP of France at St Jean d’Angely where the team lost the EMX250 series leader’s red plate that’s been in its possession since round two.

Martin and Mel went into the sixth round lying 1-2 in the points on their FC 250s but a first lap crash in Saturday’s opening moto put the Irishman at the back of the field and after a race-long charge he collected just a single point for 20th.

Mel ended the opening race in a safe sixth but, following heavy overnight rain, track conditions were treacherous and he went down twice on the first lap on Sunday before racing from dead-last to 12th.
Martin completed the first lap in 12th and worked his way up to 10th at the flag.

The team’s third rider Dylan Woodcock continued his solid progress to go through to the main races via the LCQ before breaking into the overall top 30 for the first time.

Mel heads into this weekend’s MXGP of Lombardia at Ottobiano holding second in the championship, 13 points down on the leader, with Martin in third a further nine points behind.

Mark Yates (Team Principal)

“Losing the red plate is disappointing. It wasn’t the best weekend for the boys but I guess we were bound to get one at some point! All three riders did their best but you can’t control what goes on around you and that certainly didn’t work in our favour.

“The French riders were definitely prepared for St Jean and it showed so I hope going back to sand next week will put us back in the game.

“It was a great second moto from Mel who came from dead last to 12th which was an exercise in damage limitation but for Martin it was a big hit! I’m very pleased for Dylan having gone through to the main races from the LCQ again and getting 29th overall – he’s improving every week.

“The team has again worked very hard and will put this one behind them going into Italy next week where we will do our best to fight for the championship lead again! It’s a long season with five GPs left and 250 points available.”

Mel Pocock – 8th (6-12)
“I had a decent ride in the first moto and managed to come home in sixth but the French had the track down and were riding well.

“The second moto was completely different to the first after all the rain and I unfortunately went down in the first corner and then got taken down again on the first lap.

“I managed to come back to 12th and on a positive note we’re still second in the championship heading into Italy this weekend and in with more than a fair shout.”

Martin Barr – 16th (20-10)
“It was a very disappointing weekend. It started off not too bad with eighth in my qualifying group which gave me 15th gate pick which wasn’t a total disaster.

“In the first race I good a pretty good jump but I caught bars with the rider beside me and lost a lot of places going into the first corner, then on the first lap I came together with another rider and I went into the fence and got stuck. I was miles behind and it was a very frustrating race to only be able to come back to score one point.

“I was looking forward to making amends on Sunday and I got a decent start but I just never went forward. I wasn’t riding the best that I can but I’ve already put it behind me – there are still a lot of races to go – and I’ll regroup at Ottobiano. I really like the track so hopefully I can get back into the championship hunt.”

Dylan Woodcock – 29th (32-25)
“It was a good weekend. I just missed out on an automatic qualification place again – I was inside the top 15 for pretty much the whole time but just in the last couple of laps a few boys went a bit faster.

I was leading the LCQ but dropped back to a safe third but it was still a good confidence boost for me.”
