De Dycker secures a podium in Mölln!

Mölln hosted the second round of the ADAX MX Masters Championship in Germany. After a recent injury to Thomas Sileika it meant the WZ KTM Racing team were down rider in the MX Masters class.

However, Ken De Dycker who had a tough first round to the series was able to put that behind him to get himself on the podium at round two. The Belgian went fifth and fourth in the moto’s to secure an impressive second overall. The starts are an area he can improve in though so he can be closer to the front riders on the first laps. De Dycker now sits seventh in the championship after the first two rounds of the series. He’ll be looking to break into the top five sooner rather than later.

Gianlucca Ecca had a great start to his weekend as he posted the eighth quickest time in his qualifying group. It meant he avoided the dreaded LCQ race and got straight into the main races. However, bad starts ruined any chances of a good results, he’ll be hoping to improve on those for round three.

In the ADAC MX Youngsters Cup, after securing a podium at round one, Hardi Roosiorg would have been looking to do the same at round two. He had the speed but a start crash at the start of the first moto meant he couldn’t continue the race. Roosiorg bounced back in the second moto to come home in second as he proved he’s a front runner in the class.

Lithuanian, Dovydas Karka has been dealing with exam stress lately but he showed some good speed at round two in Mölln. However, three crashes in the first moto ruined any chances of a good result. However, in the second moto there was a huge pile up at the start which Karka managed to avoid, he was able to run at the front as he was sat in sixth the whole moto. Karka tried to make the move for fifth on the last lap but unfortunately the collided and it meant Karka had to be content with seventh but that still shows signs of improvement.

As for the rookie, Jeremy Sydow he again proved speed isn’t an issue. The German talent came from seventh to third which was a solid race and give him a good chance of a podium. However, unfortunately he wasn’t able to avoid the carnage start crash in the second moto. When Sydow was working his way through the field he then suffered from a big crash and had to DNF the moto which he’s learning more about the 250cc every week!

Ken De Dycker: “It was an okay weekend. On Saturday I ended up in second place so that was good, I just didn’t feel good with the track all weekend. First moto I had a bad start down in 20th but came back to fifth which was okay. In the second moto I had a better start in 10th and got back to finish 4th which meant I was 2nd overall.  It was an okay weekend but I’m still not happy with how I’m riding. I need more time on the bike and be more fit for the next one”.

Gianluca Ecca: “My weekend started really good with P.8 in my qualifying group on Saturday. In the first moto I had a bad start and crashed a few laps later, unfortunately I got a stone in my chain and it took a lot of time to start again. In the second moto I had a start crash. After making some passes I had another crash while trying to make a pass”.

Hardi Roosiorg: “Saturday started good as I was fastest in free practice, in qualifying I was 3rd but could’ve been better, it meant I went to the gate 5th.  Sunday started slowly as I was 9th in the warm-up. In the first race I had big crash in the start, which ended my race immediately. In the second race it already went already better, when I got over the gate first, but I made a small mistake in the first turn and lost some positions. Fortunately, I made back the time quickly and made some passes to get 2nd in the end.
This weekend didn’t go as planned as I lost many points in the first moto, but the season is long so no worries, thanks to team WZ racing for helping me!”

Dovydas Karka: “On Saturday the track was smarter than me, I just couldn’t find the flow so qualified 7th in my group.
Sunday started terrible, as I had 3 crashed in the first moto, even though I was feeling much better on the sketchy circuit. The second moto started off well, as I was riding in 6th the whole moto and I was trying to pass for 5th on the last lap. Unfortunately, we came together and crashed. I finished 7th in the second moto, which is not bad. – the best result so far this year! I have the speed, I have the endurance, so we’ll just keep on building on other things”.

Jeremy Sydow: “Timed practice went pretty good and I got the pole position for the races. In race 1 my start was okay and for the first half of the race in 7th and I was able to make some good passes to finish in 3rd. In race two I was involved in a big start crash. I rode already into the top 15 before I crashed hard again and had to finish the race but the speed was really good”.
