Coenen brothers back on KTM

Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen (13) will return to KTM for the 2020 season. After the closure of the Grizzly Yamaha team, the Coenen family chose to take matters into their own hands again with the support of KTM Belgium. Both boys are now also included in the Flemish Motorsport Future development programme.

After one year of interruption, Lucas and Sacha continue in the family’s own CJT Racing KTM structure. Although the brothers won the Coupe de l’Avenir and Sacha and Lucas finished 4th and 6th respectively in the EMX85 north-west championship, 2019 proved to be a very mixed bag.

Next year Sacha wants to go for his sporting revenge in what will be his last 85cc season. For Lucas, 2020 will be a transitional year in which he will move up to to the 125cc. Both brothers will also be taking part in the German ADAC MX Masters again. Sacha became 3rd this year, brother Lucas finished 7th in the highly regarded German MX Junior Cup 85.

In addition to the top Belgian talents the young Frenchman Simon De Ruyter is joining the team. Simon wants to gain international experience in 2020 and improve his sand skills. Motorsport Future has been the elite sports department of VMBB (ed. the Flemish Motorcycle Federation) since this year, and receives elite sports government grants for the development of young talent. Motorsport Future will guide the twins in both their motorcycle and conditioning training.
