Change of plans for Cornelius Tøndel – signs with JWR Honda

JWR Racing are ecstatic to announce the second rider of the team that will pilot the Honda machine in the 2020 EMX Open Championship series. JWR is happy to have one of the biggest talents in Scandinavia on the team and its Cornelius Tondel, how hails from Norway and is being supervised by former racer Espen Blikstad on his road to success. The talented Cornelius can be one of the favourites fighting for the top positions in the EMX Open Championship. The plan for 2020 is to gain experience and go for top positions in the emx open series, and if possible do 1 or 2 mxgp races. Cornelius will also compete the Swedish championship and the Norwegian championship during the year so he’s in for a lot of racing on his new Honda.

Cornelius Tondel, (Rider): “I have to say that i am really happy to get the opportunity to race for JWR racing on the Honda CRF 450R. I have dreamed of racing a Honda for years and to get the opportunity to race the JWR CRF450R is great. I am really looking forward to start working with Johan, Tonny and the complete JWR Honda Racing team. I know I will be working with very good people that love the sport. I cannot wait to get going!!

Johan Westermark (JWR Honda Racing Team Owner): “We are happy to have Cornelius on the team. We were talking to him early this year, so he was on the short list of riders that we wanted on the team. He is talented, works hard and gives it his best. He showed very good speed in MX2 last year in Sweden. He never gives up when he’s on the track and that is something that we respect a lot. We will do our best and try to give him everything he needs during the season to succeed.

Tonny Govers (JWR Honda Racing Team Manager): I am very happy to announce our riders for 2020 and i can say i am very excited working with Anton and Cornelius for the 2020 season. We hope we can make another step with Anton in the premier MXGP class, and help Cornelius fighting for top spots in the new EMX open class. I would also like to thank our loyal sponsors who will support us again in 2020!
