Cairoli wins the British MXGP!
Tony Cairoli went 1-2 to win the British GP and extend his points lead by two over a gallant Tim Gajser.
Gajser threw away the first moto win with a big crash but fortunately was able to remount and finish third as Cairoli secured the first race win over Gautier Paulin.
In race two, just as he did in race one, Gajser put an early move on race leader Cairoli and began to pull away to around five seconds. The gap hovered around the same second for most of the race until five minutes to go when Cairoli dropped the hammer.
The Italian then did the two fastest laps of the race in the final two laps, forcing Gajser to do his fastest lap of the race in the final lap to hold the charging Italian at bay and take a very hard fought moto win!
Behind the leading pair, Gautier Paulin brought it home for another third with Arminas Jasikonis riding very well for fourth in the moto giving him sixth overall.
Clement Desalle came from way back in race two to save fourth overall with Jeremy Van Horebeek very impressive for the second GP in a row with fifth overall.
Max Anstie came from last to fourteenth in race two to take ninth overall ahead of Shaun Simpson who fought tooth and nail in both motos and was rewarded with tenth but will no doubt be cursing that last lap crash just two turns from home in race one.
Tommy Searle came from the outside and gates and two bad starts for a respectable 12th.
