Cairoli takes MXGP win at Valkenswaard

Tony Cairoli made it 88 Grand Prix wins by going 1-1 at Valkenswaard despite still suffering from his shoulder injury.
The Italian was helped out in race one when Tim Gajser, running third just behind Cairoli, had a huge crash and could only get back to seventh while, just a few laps later, race leader Max Anstie went down and suddenly Cairoli was in the lead with a comfortable gap over second!
In race two Cairoli holeshot again with Gajser chasing, this time Gajser stayed on two wheels but despite a late race charge, couldn’t prevent Cairoli from doing the double. However the HRC Honda man did make third on the podium in a tie-break with Van Horebeek and Jasikonis.
Clement Desalle took second overall after a scorching first moto saw him pull through to second place in his best ride of the season he backed it up with a fifth in race two losing out two an impressive Arminas Jasikonis in the last couple of laps.
