Butron clinches Spanish title!
Jose Butron has clinched the Spanish MX1 Championship during the penultimate round of the series. I’s the twelth Spanish title to his name which is a huge achievement.
Butron has dominated the championship this year but didn’t actually win the penultimate round of the series as Carlos Campano won both of the moto’s. Butron finished second in both of the moto’s to secure the championship with one round remaining.
Meanwhile in the MX2 class only ten points separate Simeo Ubach and Iker Larranaga heading into the last round. Larranaga won both of the moto’s to claw back points in the championship race. The 8Biano Husqvarna rider had to miss some rounds earlier in the season through injury.
Ubach finished third and second in the moto’s to keep his red plate but it’s going to go down to the wire.
