Anstie on a tough day’s racing at Red Bud – I was at 60%
Max Anstie says he almost didn’t race moto two at Red Bud but was glad to get some points as he battled the pain from his crash last Sunday at Ironman.
The tough Brit commented on social media: “After being in the hospital 6 days ago thinking that there was no chance I would be able to line up for Redbud and coming out with a 12th overall, I’m really happy! I felt so bad 😵 my jaw and ears felt so strange in the first moto I felt like I was riding under water.
“I wasn’t even sure I would line up for the second moto but getting a bad start was probably the best thing for me! You don’t say that often haha. But I switched off from my hurting body and foggy head and just cracked on with it. Ok I was only at about 60% but I’m happy to now make steps forward for Monday and Redbud 2.”
With only two days to recover for the second day of racing at Red Bud it won’t be easy for the HEP Suzuki rider but Max is showing his toughnesss this season as well as glimpses of his raw speed – but it would be nice to see him at 100% to see what he could really do out in the States!
