A crazy day for Brian Bogers at Faenza

It was a crazy day for Brian Bogers at Faenza which hosted the sixth round of the MXGP World Championship.

Everyone in the MXGP paddock needs to get a COVID-19 test before the event and then again upon arrival to the track. Bogers took a test last Wednesday in which he tested negative so made the trip to Faenza.

On Saturday, he got told he had tested positive for COVID-19 he took when he arrived at the circuit.

“On Saturday evening I was taken aside and they told me that I had tested positive. I actually thought: either test again, or we can go home. Retesting was not allowed. I had to go to my camper and stay there until I was taken out”, Bogers told Brabants Dagblad.

Eventually someone came to Bogers from the local hospital and something strange happened, as he was getting tested again he got another text message saying he’s actually tested negative.

“The doctor said there was a mistake with the wrong e-mail address and of course I didn’t believe it. Finally, when we went to that testing centre, it was admitted that a mistake had been made”, Bogers added.

It was a costly mistake for Bogers who had zero track time as a result but then had the option to race moto two – he couldn’t even watch the race as he didn’t have internet in his camper but he’ll be looking forward to being back in action on Wednesday where he’ll have the opportunity to get to grips with the track before the two main races.
