Who will Factory KTM sign for MX2 in 2019?

It’s no secret that the Factory KTM team are in the market for an MX2 World Championship rider. With Pauls Jonass making the move to the MXGP World Championship in 2019 (team still to be confirmed) it leaves Jorge Prado as the sole MX2 Factory KTM rider in 2019.

Factory KTM have been on the look out for another rider and according to rumours they carried out a test day in which three riders tested the bike.

Rumours suggest the three riders that got a chance to test the bike were Brian Moreau, Wilson Todd and Tom Vialle.

It’s thought that Factory KTM really wanted to sign Moreau and we heard a rumour during MXGP of Assen that a deal could happen. However, the young French talent has a contract with BUD Kawasaki and they really want to keep him for 2019 – a deal has thought to have been difficult for KTM.

That leaves Wilson Todd from Australia who’s expected to be in the GP paddock in 2019, if not with KTM then another team in the paddock. However, we heard from a source that Tom Vialle has been given the nod for the Factory KTM ride in 2019. Vialle showed some good speed in 2018 as he finished eighth in the EMX250 championship. He’d be making a big jump up to the MX2 World Championship but he’s a young rider KTM could work with and improve for the future.

There’s a lot of speculation regarding who will end up under the awning but we will continue to keep you updated as and when it’s official.
