Who impressed: MX2 in Agueda!

Who impressed: MX2 in Agueda!

The MX2 World Championship is getting interesting to say the least with Jorge Prado the man in form. The Spanish sensation was out in front all weekend long and he’s riding sensational at the moment. This is probably the best he’s riding during his career so far.

Prado won both moto’s to bag fifty championship points and with Pauls Jonass having a bad weekend there’s only fourteen points in the championship chase. The momentum is certainly with the Spaniard at the moment and it looks like he’s worked in the hard pack conditions over winter as he’s thriving in them right now. With the way Prado is riding I bet he can’t wait for Russia!

It was another good weekend for Danish talent, Thomas Kjer Olsen after missing the podium in Arco di Trento. Fourth and third in the moto’s meant he ended up second overall which he can be pleased about. You’d think a win isn’t too far away for the Husqvarna rider.

“I was looking forward to a good result coming into this weekend. My goal was to remain solid and I’m really happy I got away with one more podium result for the season. In the opening moto I got a decent start and after a steady race I managed to get fourth. Then in moto two I got myself up into second and stayed there for most of the race. In the last few laps a few small mistakes allowed Ben Watson to get really close but I am happy I managed to retain second for second overall at the GP. I am just so happy to finish on the podium and I want to thank all my team for all their hard work and dedication.” Olsen commented on his weekend.

It might be his rookie season but Jed Beaton knows what it’s like to stand on the podium after finishing on the box during a wildcard ride last season. The Aussie looked great on the track all weekend long, he ended up third and fourth in the moto’s to secure third overall.

The F&H Kawasaki rider hasn’t been getting great starts but he sorted that in Agueda and it showed with his podium. The Aussie currently sits fifth in the championship which is very impressive as a rookie. Working with Marc de Reuver looks to working wonders at the moment!

What on earth does Ben Watson have to do to get himself a podium? The Brit was flying all weekend long and was even stuck in second gear for half of the first moto but he still came home in fifth despite that.

In the second moto Watson was sixth on the first lap but worked his way into third and was putting Olsen under a lot of pressure. The Brit tried to make a move on the last corner but just missed out by 0.172 of a second and that was to secure a podium!

There’s no doubt if Watson continues to ride like he has been doing this season then a podium is just around the corner. His starts have been letting him down slightly but he’s absolutely loving the Kemea Yamaha. Watson is living in Belgium now as well as working with Jacky Vimond but it really is working incredibly well.

So far the season has been a bit up and down for Adam Sterry and part of that is due to a thumb injury. However, Agueda was his best GP of the season to date as he was able to put two good moto’s together.

Sixth and ninth meant he ended up seventh overall which was a good day for the Brit. He’s made no secret of the fact that he wants to get himself plenty of podiums but the injury was a setback, he’ll be hoping to build on this result and maybe we’ll see him on the box soon!

It really was a great weekend for the F&H Kawasaki team as all three riders ended up in the top ten! Ruben Fernandez was flying in the qualifying race but then took a huge crash which meant he had a bad gate pick for the main races. However, he was lucky not to be seriously injured!

On a track that seemed to suit the Spaniard he ended up twelfth and thirteenth in the moto’s to secure tenth overall. It’s important he learns as much as possible during his rookie season and Portugal was his best GP to date so it shows he’s making good progress.

A shout out to Silver Action KTM rider, Stephen Rubini who has been showing good speed this year but hasn’t had the results so far to show for it. The French rider will be hoping the second moto in Portugal will help turn the corner though as he ended up an impressive tenth.

Rubini has got speed but he’ll be hoping to put two moto’s together more often as the season progresses.
