Who impressed: MX2 class Switzerland

Who impressed: MX2 class Switzerland

Jorge Prado – Well, he did it again! The Spaniard changed his tactics in race two after Jonass ran him down in race one and Prado, despite keeping a watching brief, couldn’t quite make the pass back like he wanted too.

So, for race two Prado sprinted hard, getting the gap up to seven seconds, he wasn’t going to risk not being able to pass Jonass back this time, and even though Jonass closed the gap, Prado gave everything to the point of exhaustion to stay ahead and took a vital win for the overall and the world championship.

Prado has the style and technique but also showed in Switzerland how much is prepared to dig deep for this title. Jonass upped his game in Switzerland and was riding well but Prado still took the win. Very impressive!

Hunter Lawrence – It’s great to see Hunter Lawrence back on the podium and riding like he can. Lawrence said he feels he is more or less back to 100% and he adds a different dynamic up front as the championship comes to a close. He beat HRC man Vlaanderen in race two which no doubt felt good but to see the charismatic Lawrence back on the pace is great for the series and a nice reward for Livia Lancelot, who has had a tough season in her first role as team manager, and the entire 114 Honda team.

Anthony Rodriguez – What a great day for A-Rod. The Kemea Yamaha replacement rider showed some superb speed in Switzerland to run third for most of the race until Thomas Covington eventually found his way by. Rodriguez backed it up with an eighth place in race two for fifth overall. Like a lot of AMA riders racing MXGP in their first GP season, results tend to be track depended as they aren’t used to the variety of conditions in the world championship but Rodriguez has shown that on tracks he likes he is a top ten and even top five contender.

Marshall Weltin – The American is showing his potential on the F&H Kawasaki team after a tough year on the Vamo Honda that had Weltin riding hard but just about getting points at times.

The combination of the team and the experience of Marc de Reuver as team coach seem to be helping Weltin get the results that allow him to gain confidence and show that the sacrifice to come to GPs have been worth it. Weltin has kept his head down this year and kept pushing, it’s nice to see he is now getting the reward for his efforts.
