Who impressed: EMX65 – Loket

Young Italian talent, Brando Rispoli did the business in Loket this weekend. After the first moto it was looking unlikely for him to win the title but that perhaps a podium would be more realistic.

Rispoli lead on the the first lap of the first moto but ended up fifth. However, when overnight rain hit the circuit the conditions seemed to suit him much better. In fact, the young Italian won the second moto to win the overall and the series! The future could be very bright for Rispoli and his father – Graziano used to race World Supermoto so he we know where he gets the talent from.

After spending the season on a Yamaha young Dutch talent, Damien Knuiman made the decision to switch to KTM a few weeks before Loket and it was only made official a few days before the event.

Knuiman is a talent so remember the name. He dominated the first moto as he won by over seven seconds. In the second moto he suffered from an awful start and then took a crash. He came back from fourteenth to sixth to secure third overall but he was probably the fastest rider in the class this weekend, a bad start and a crash cost him the title.

There’s plenty of talent emerging from Denmark at the moment and Jakob Madsen looks to be the latest one they have in their ranks. Madsen confirmed his speed early in the weekend as he set the pace in timed practice.

In the moto’s, Madsen finished third in both the moto’s to clinch second overall. If he can translate his speed from one lap into consistent moto’s then he could turn himself into a winner in the future.

Rispoli wasn’t the only Italian to impress this weekend as Alessandro Gaspari also had a good weekend on his KTM.  Gaspari was as high as fourth in the first moto but then ended up eighth with a mistake with two laps to go which was a shame.

However, the second moto was much better as he started in second and that’s where he ended up in what was an Italian 1-2. Unfortunately, his mistake in the first moto cost him a podium but a fourth overall is still a good weekend and not to be disappointed about.

One rider I wasn’t too familiar with before the weekend was Slovenia’s Jaka Peklaj but he’s fast! In the first moto, Peklaj didn’t get a great start as he was in eighth on the first lap but he made a lot of passes and got his way into an impressive second so the overall wasn’t out of the question.

Unfortunately, in the second moto Peklaj got a horrid start and was nearly last and on the third lap he took a big crash, he had to DNF the race which was a shame because with the speed he showed he deserved a podium.
