Who impressed: EMX250 – Bulgaria

It’s been a good season for Mathys Boisrame and he secured the EMX250 Championship with a round to go in Bulgaria. He spent the winter working hard to become EMX250 champ and the hard work has paid off. The French rider went 2-1 on the day to win the overall to win the series in style.

The Assomotor Honda rider is expected to stay with the team for 2019 but will move up to the MX2 World Championship in what will be a new challenge. He clearly has speed and should be looking for top ten results during his rookie year in the class – he’s capable.

Before Switzerland, Tom Vialle inked a deal with the LRT KTM team and he’s already repaying the trust the team have put in him. Vialle looked at home around the technical Bulgarian circuit and ended up going 3-4 in the moto’s.

Vialle secured second overall and will be happy with the result. He’ll be hoping to stay with the LRT KTM team beyond the 2018 season and he’s sending the right message to the team with that result. The one area he needs to work in for 2019 is the sand, we all know he’s fast in hard pack but if he can figure out how to ride the deep sand then he could be on to something.

It’s hard not to be impressed with young Dutch talent, Roan van de Moosdijk as he’s showing maturity as well as the speed he has in the locker. 6-2 was enough to secure the final step on the podium, the Dutch rider has improved a lot this year and now moves up into third in the championship which highlights his progress.

It will be interesting what the young Dutch rider will decide to do for 2019, if he decides to stay in the EMX250 series then he will be under pressure to win it or it will be a bit of a failure. It’d be nice to see him make the step to the World Championship in 2019.

Bad starts and crashes cost Pierre Goupillon a podium but he can certainly be happy with his speed. There’s no question he had the speed for a podium and probably should have stood on it this weekend but a few crashes cost him in the first moto and he actually done well to come back to seventh.

The French rider put that result behind him and came home third in the second moto, not good enough for a podium this week but the speed is encouraging.

It’s a rookie year for Matteo Puccinelli in the EMX250 Championship and coming into Bulgaria he hadn’t yet scored a point. Things seemed to click for the Italian at the weekend as he ended up a very impressive fifth overall. That should do his confidence the world of good so he’ll be looking to build on the performance.

The Celestini KTM rider will put in a good winter to improve on his speed for the 2019 season where he’ll hope to produce more results like the Bulgarian result.

It was hard not to be impressed with French talent, Brian Moreau in the first moto as he really did look amazing. The BUD Kawasaki rider has been showing race winning speed recently and he proved that by winning the first moto in Bulgaria.

Unfortunately, the EMX250 rookie had a bike problem in the second moto and then collided with Vialle to make matters worse. He was forced out of the race which ruined his shot at the victory but he’ll be happy with his speed and his moto win! The future looks very promising for the French talent.
