Who impressed: EMX125 in Sweden!

The last round of the EMX125 Championship took place in Sweden at the weekend. For the final time of the year we will take a look at who impressed in the series during the last round.

Brian Moreau: It was a superb weekend for the French youngster as he clinched the title and he done it in style. He won the overall at the final round of the series as he went 1-2 in the moto’s. The BUD Kawasaki rider can now focus on what’s to come and it looks to be a bright future.

It was a good weekend for Moreau and he will look back on it with fund memories as he clinched the EMX125 title. He’s expected to move up to the EMX250 series next year in what will be a rookie year for him but he’s very talented so he could turn a few heads in that class.

Kevin Horgmo:  Sweden was the last EMX125 race for the CreyMert KTM rider as he has inked a deal to race the EMX250 championship next season under the same awning. The last round was good as he ended up on the podium finishing second overall.

The Norwegian finished second and third in the moto’s, he was actually leading the second moto before a small crash meant he had to settle for third but it was a good weekend nonetheless. Horgmo can now focus on the 2018 season and put in a strong winter on the 250cc.

Matteo Puccinelli: It was a great weekend for the Italian as he was close to getting on the podium. In the first moto he finished third which was his best result all season, that put him in a good position to get on the box.

However, he didn’t get a good start in the second moto and he could only come back to twelfth but he still ended up fourth overall which is a very promising result. The Italian will look to build on this result for the future. Puccinelli had a good campaign and ended up tenth in the series, he can be happy with how his season went.

Thibault Benistant:  The French rider is contesting his rookie season in the EMX125 class and has showed glimpses of what he can do throughout the year. Sweden was one of his better rounds as he collected twenty-seven championship points for fifth overall.

The MJC Yamaha rider will be much stronger next year now he has his rookie year behind him in the series. He will try and do what Moreau did this year and be the next French rider to win the title. Benistant ended up twelfth in the series, he was the second best placed rookie! He could be one to watch in 2018 and will certainly be capable of getting plenty of podiums in 2018.

Filip Olsson:  It was Olsson’s home GP in Sweden and he put in a good performance in front of his home crowd. In fact, it was his best round all year, he saved the best to last in front of his home fans, no better place to do it!

Olsson finished seventh and eleventh to end up sixth overall. The Swede ended up in eighteen overall in the championship but did miss one round. He showed glimpses of what he could do this year but is certainly capable of more in the future, it remains to be seen if he will stay in the class next year again or move up to the 250cc.

Christopher Mills:  It has been a frustrating season for the Brit who has showed some good speed throughout the course of the season but his weakness has been with the starts. In the first moto he was buried down in twenty-sixth but managed to come back to twentieth to pick up one championship point for his efforts.

Mills finally got a decent start in the second moto as he was tenth after lap one. He worked his way into seventh which was a good ride from the Brit, he proved that with a good start he’s capable of running in the top ten. Despite only picking up one point in the first moto he ended up thirteenth on the day.
