It’s one of the biggest motocross weekends of the season- especially if you live in the UK!

Hawkstone Park officially kicks off the British season and has mouth-watering line-up headed by the battle that made the last two big events of 2017 – Jeffrey Herlings v Max Anstie.

Anstie and Herlings battled for the win in the second moto at the French GP with Herlings taking the win, before Max returned the favour by wining the final moto of the MXoN against Herlings to help GB on the podium.

Now they will resume their duel in the UK but this time on sand. Anstie of course got his season off to a good start in Italy last weekend with second overall, the Brit even leading some laps over Cairoli, while Herlings’ day was over before it really started when he went down and got run over in turn one of moto one. Hawkstone will now essentially be Herlings’ first race of the 2018 season.

But they aren’t the only headline acts with stylish Frenchman Gautier Paulin showcasing his smooth style and British champ Graeme Irwin getting his first race on the KTM and against the GP competition he will face for the rest of the season in MXGP. Tommy Searle will also begin his season and Jake Nicholls will have his first race on Honda!

In MX2 all eyes will be on world champ Pauls Jonass, but the British youngsters’ Ben Watson and Conrad Mewse will be showcasing their speed on their new teams, Kemea Yamaha and Hitachi KTM respectively in front of a vociferous home crowd.

But that isn’t the only big international race, with Round two of the Italian championship on with Cairoli and Gajser expected to face-off.

Brits also have the Arenacross UK series in Sheffield, that sees Soubeyras and Ramette locking horns for the title, while Evgeny Bobryshev is attempting to race both Sheffield AX and the Hawkstone International in 24 hours!

Then there is the on-going unpredictably of the AMA supercross series! Jason Anderson looks to have set a bench-mark for the rest to follow but Roczen wasn’t happy at losing the race on the last lap, and you can’t imagine Eli Tomac is happy with Barcia or Musquin with Anderson! It all leaves a lot of motivation for the leading contenders going into San Diego and an exhilarating weekend for motocross fans!
