Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider Ben Watson finished eleventh in Faenza (Italy), in what has been his first race since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Watson was the sole rider of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team at the start in Faenza, the Italian track that will welcome two Grand Prix races on September 16 and 20.
MX1 and MX2 riders raced against each other in the elite class of the Italian championship. The Brit didn’t feel at ease on the Italian track and didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. Watson finished 18th and 37th in the races.

“I came to the race to see the track and get back behind the start gate again. Of course the goal is to win, but I have to be smart. I will say it for everyone who raced today that it was dangerous. And this is the only reason I didn’t ride on my real level today. I have learnt a lot the past year and I won’t make the same mistakes again to try and go to another level, when I am not feeling at one with what is under me. The first GP back is in three weeks. This is my vision, I have my goals and in a few weeks we will see who is on their game.”
