RJ Hampshire was only 13 points out of the championship lead going into Daytona but an ugly crash in the heat race, when he was chasing down leader Zach Osborne, has ended Hampshire’s supercross title hopes.
Geico Honda have reported that the unfortunate Hampshire, who won the US MX2 GP back in September suffered, “a broken rib, collarbone and a stable fracture to his T3 and T4, which will not require surgery.”
So bummed to update you on @rjhampshire’s injury from his heat race crash tonight in Daytona. He sustained a broken rib, possible shoulder injury and stable fracture to his T3 & T4, which will not require surgery. Sending you positive thoughts & a quick recovery, RJ. Your bike will be ready when you are! 👊🏼
