Video interview: New Red Bull KTM USA manager Ian Harrison

Ian Harrison has a long history in the sport of the motocross, coming over from South Africa in 1992 to be mechanic for friend Greg Albertyn, who went on to win three world titles in a row.

Albertyn then moved to the states to ride for Suzuki under Roger DeCoster, with Harrison still his mechanic. From then Harrison showed his worth to Suzuki and DeCoster and was eventually moved in-house in 1999, ironically the year Albertyn won the 250 US outdoor title.

Harrison has been DeCoster’s right-hand man from then and they both moved across to KTM at the same time as they led the Austrian brand to titles in both motocross and their main goal, supercross, with Ryan Dungey.

Now, with DeCoster moving into a role that where he will oversee both Husky and KTM, Ian has stepped up into Roger’s managerial shoes 26 years after starting as mechanic in the 125cc world championship.

It’s been quite the journey.
