Tim Gajser has had an awful crash in the first moto at Mantova has resulted in the 2016 MXGP world champion being stretchered off.
Gajser over-jumped the table-top and got thrown over the bars, severely jolting his neck and appearing to be knocked out and lying helpless on the track.
He was running third at the time having just been passed by Jeremy Van Horebeek. It was Gajser’s first race of the season and he had ran with Cairoli for the first five minutes of the race showing good speed after the injuries of last season.
Early reports from Lorenzo Resta, who is trackside, on Tim appear to be positive, “nothing so bad” and Tim has been talking with his crew, more as we get it.

*Update* According to a team Honda press release, MRI scans thankfully showed no damage to his head or spine but the Slovenian has two fractures to his jawbone and he is having an operation to repair the damage.
