Video: Carmichael v Pastrana – Travis hits the deck!

Ricky Carmichael posted a famous clash between himself and Travis Pastrana in the 2003 season that left the charismatic Suzuki rider on the the deck and Carmichael being blamed and booed for the incident!

In classic RC style the Floridian says he waved to the crowd because he was being booed as went on to win the heat race!

Carmichael wrote: “ #TBT 2003 the time I got booed out of Angels stadium for the giving the fan favourite at bit of elbow grease. Had to give all my fans a on the last lap while they were all giving me the California howdy sign ( ). ”

Pastrana meanwhile, in an interview with USA Today a few years ago said of Carmichael: “Ricky Carmichael. Absolutely hated him. Wouldn’t talk to him. When we were on the Suzuki test track, he threw me out and said, “You can’t ride when I ride.” And he was better, so of course everyone was like, “Yep, OK, you can’t ride when he rides.” I was like, “Damn it!” So I went and rode with the Yamaha test track with Chad Reed – who was also a complete (jerk), but we were good friends.”

Pastrana also said in an interview Too Fast films in the UK: “He was kind of an asshole but that’s what you have to be to be the greatest.”

Jeremy’s McGrath replied to Carmichael’s post saying he felt RC did nothing wrong and that Pastrana turned into the defending champion but what do you think?
