Ben Watson has revealed he won’t be racing this weekend in the second Indonesian Grand Prix after doing further damage to his hand trying to ride last weekend.
Speaking to Lisa Leyland Ben said of last weekend: “I did my best and went out in the warm ups and qualifying sessions, and yes, it was possible to ride, it was just the thought on my mind doing some extra damage.
“I rode easy in the qualifying race, I finished 10th, I woke up on Sinday morning and my hand was really swollen, I went out in the morning and it was really too much pain, and I decided to sit out the races to give me more time for here this weekend. I had an x Ray on Thursday and found out I did do a little bit more damage by riding too so it means this weekend I have to sit out and support my teammate and fellow Brits.”
“I don’t know what the next step is for me now whether I need another surgery to fix that plate back to the bone. I’m staying positive.”
Watson says that even if he needs surgery he is hopeful of being back on the bike before the end of the season which means he should still be in contention for the MXoN in Asssen.
