Verhaeghe to stop racing at a high level

Young French talent, Alexis Verhaeghe has decided to stop racing at a high level and will take a step back from the sport. Since making the move up to the MX2 World Championship, it’s been difficult for the French rider as he’s been hit with a number of injuries.

Due to the injuries and multiple operations during the last three years, Verhaeghe has made the difficult decision to take a step back from the sport. He will still ride for fun and might even compete at a few races next year but he won’t take it as serious as before.

Verhaeghe has been racing the MX2 World Championship under the VHR KTM team the previous few years – his father, Bruno runs the team.

Even though, Alexis will stop racing at a high level his Brother, Scotty will contest the EMX250 Championship in 2019 under the VHR KTM awning.

Alexis Verhaeghe: “In 2016 my first injury was my left ankle without even crashing, my second was to injure my right ankle. Also, in 2016 during an SX training for Bercy/Lille I had one big crash in which I broke both my wrists and the left knee so I didn’t ride eight months.Due to that 2017 was very hard and in 2018 I dislocated my shoulder three or four times so I preferred to end the season for surgery. In three years I have underwent seven operations, mentally it was very hard”.
