Top fives for Butron, Sydow and Roosiorg in Gaildorf

Top fives for Butron, Sydow and Roosiorg in Gaildorf

The WZ Racing team welcomed Jose Butron under the awning for the seventh round of the ADAC MX Masters Championship. The experienced Spaniard MXGP rider put in the seventh quickest qualifying time in group two as he adjusted to the track.

However, Butron got on much better in the races to secure a good overall result. In the first moto, Butron crossed the line in tenth which was a solid moto but he’s high expectations so would have wanted more from himself. He was able to improve in the second moto as he saved the best to last and finished fourth in the second moto to secure a fifth overall. He’ll be happy to end the weekend on a high.

During qualifying, Gianlucca Ecca put in the twelfth quickest lap time in his group. Putting in fast laps is a strength for the German. As for the races a technical problem with the bike ruined his day.

After ten minutes in the first moto he was forced to DNF the race. A problem wasn’t found with the bike so he only lasted one lap in the second race but Ecca will be looking to bounce back at the final round of the series.

In the Youngsters Cup, Jeremy Sydow showed great pace over the course of the weekend but made some costly mistakes which cost him a better result. The rookie quickly found his way into second in the early stages of the moto and was pulling away from the riders behind him before suffering from a crash but he still did end up fifth which isn’t the end of the world.

In the second moto Sydow started in fifth and worked his way up to third by the end of the moto. Unfortunately, when he got to third Walsh and Lawrence were too far ahead to bridge the gap. Fourth overall is still a solid weekend but he’ll be wanting an overall podium during the final round.

Before Gaildorf, Hardi Roosiorg picked up an illness which meant he felt weak which means he couldn’t perform to his best. Having said that,  Roosiorg had a solid weekend as he picked up a 4-5 scorecard to secure fifth overall. Under the circumstances it was a pretty good result.

Young Russian rider is still learning every time he hits the track Timur Petrashin and he showed his potential at the weekend by securing points in both the moto’s – progress! 17-19 in the moto’s meant he picked up seven championship points and more experience which is important when it comes to his rider development.

With regards to Dovydas Karka, he tried to ride at Gaildorf but was just too weak as he’s suffering from Epstein Barr. His season is over and he’ll now prepare for the 2019 season.

Jeremy Sydow (4th Overall): With my 3rd start place I was happy. In the first race I started in fourth but quickly made passes for second. I then closed the gap to the leader but made a stupid crash and finished only in 5th place.

In the second race I started again pretty good and was riding the first few minutes in 5th place. I found a good rhythm and was able to finish in a good 3rd place.

Hardi Roosiorg (5th Overall): The weekend didn’t go they way I wanted as I got sick a week before and felt pretty weak. On Saturday, I qualified 3rd in my group which secured the 5th best gate.

In the first race, I got the holeshot and led for a couple of laps, before making many mistakes on the slippery track and getting passed to 4th where I finished. In second race, I didn’t get such a good start and couldn’t pass the guys in front of me so I ended up in 5th.
Not my best weekend, but trying to put it behind me by focusing on MXGP of Assen this weekend.

Gianluca Ecca: On Saturday I felt pretty good and finished a solid 12th place during time practice. Sunday, I felt even better during warm up. Unfortunately I had some technical problems after 10 minutes in the first moto and needed to DNF the moto.

We check the whole bike and changed everything we could change as we didn’t find out the main problem. In the end we couldn’t find out the reason and I needed to stop the second moto after the first lap. Now we will fix the bike and bounce back in two weeks Time.
