Tomac wins thriller at High Point!

Tomac wins thriller at High Point!

Eli Tomac edged out Marvin Musquin in breathtaking race two duel to win the overall on a tie-break from first moto winner Musquin after a brutal battle that left both riders exhausted.

Musquin caught and passed race leader Tomac in race one but in race two Tomac found some better lines and, despite being caught by Musquin again, spent the last half of the race doing everything he could to stay ahead to take a memorable win, and the toughest of his season so far.

“That was a tough one,” exhaled a tired but satisfied Tomac who also admitted it was an, “unbelievable,”  battle and win for him.

Musquin acknowledged Tomac picked up the pace in the race two and, although disppointed not to win the overall, was pleased he showed himself to be on the same level as Tomac for the first time this outdoor season.

Justin Barcia took third overall despite crash in race two with Ken Roczen fourth after a 7-3 due to a first turn crash in race one. Roczen led early in race two but couldn’t keep the pace and has an MRI scheduled to look at problematic tendonitos in his wrist.

In the 250 class Aaron Plessinger went 1-1 but he got some good fortune in race two as Jeremy Martin had a mechanical while leading Plessinger by eight seconds, handing not only the win but also the points lead to the Star racing Yamaha man.

Second overall was Austin Forkner who held a determine a Dylan Ferrandis off for second in race two to back up a fourth place from race one.

Justin Cooper went 3-4 to beat teammate Ferrandis to the podium with Dylan making a poor start in race one and admitting he was “too shy” in his first moto back but felt more like himself in an impressive ride through the top ten in the second moto.
