Thonies moves up to the 250cc

Young Dutch rider, Loeka Thonies has decided to move up to the MX2 class for the 2019 season.

Thonies will stay with the same setup, JTX KTM Racing. He will race the ONK Dutch Championships as well as the Dutch Masters of Motocross.

If Thonies shows good speed throughout the course of the season then he may also contest some rounds of the EMX250 championship.

“To move up to MX2 was a difficult step for me. I always liked the 2 stroke and had a lot of fun on it. I’ve been training on the 250 for 2 years now and feel I could step up to the mx2 last year already. The reason I didn’t do it was because of my age. This winter I will start training with the 250. I will start with the races in Holland and then we will see how my speed is and which European races I’m going to race”, Thonies commented.

“My expectations are to grab a handful of points in the Dutch Masters. I would like to gain a lot of experience in the 250 class for the upcoming years in this class. I would like to thank JTX for my eleventh year with them. Also,  a big thanks to all the private sponsors that always support me. Last but not least thanks to the Chainsaw crew who always are at the races and support me”.
