Sydow shows his potential in France!

The technical track of Saint Jean D’Angely hosted the sixth round of the EMX250 championship. We are now officially in the second half of the series with championship positions up for grabs. Jeremy Sydow put his best race result in of the series so far to give the WZ KTM a boost.

During qualifying, Sydow posted the eleventh quickest time in his group which he wasn’t that happy with. However, he was less than two seconds off the quickest time set and only 00.375 slower than Steven Clarke who won the previous round of the series in Matterley Basin.

Unfortunately, Karel Kutsar was dealing with a sickness and couldn’t get a good feeling with the track and ended up putting in the twenty-seventh quickest time in his group – his worst qualifying of the year. Due to the sickness he didn’t line up for the LCQ race and is also a doubt to race in Italy this weekend.

When the gate dropped for the first race of the weekend on Saturday evening, Sydow didn’t get the best of starts as he was buried down in eighteenth at the end of the first lap. There’s usually a lot of drama on the first few laps in the EMX250 and it was much of the same in this moto. Unfortuantely, Sydow got caught up with other riders twice during the race which ended any chance of a good results – a moto to forget.

With thunderstorms overnight, the track was totally different for the second moto and the track was challenging for the riders. However, the young German was determined to put things right in the second moto. Sydow took the holeshot which is really important in the EMX250 series. At the end of the first lap Sydow had slipped down to sixth, perhaps because he’s not used to running at the front. The WZ KTM rider regrouped and made a few passes before crossing the finish line in an impressive fifth. That’s his best race result in the EMX250 to date and now he’s done it once he’ll be motivated for more results like that and do it more consistently.

The EMX250 Championship resumes in the sand of Ottobiano this weekend and Sydow will be the sole rider for the WZ Racing team this weekend.

Jeremy Sydow: “I wasn’t that happy with my P11 in timed practice. I didn’t have the best start in moto 1 and two collisions with other riders in the race destroyed the result. In moto 2 I got the holeshot and had so much fun on that challenging track. I was able to finish in 5th position and I’m really happy with that result”.
