Sydow ends Switzerland on a high

The WZ KTM Racing team went to the ninth round of the EMX250 Championship with the sole rider in the form of Jeremy Sydow who is learning every single week during his rookie season in the class.

During qualifying, Sydow got his weekend off to a good start as he put in the fifth quickest qualifying time of his group giving him a reasonable gate pick for the moto’s. He was just over a second off the pace of red plate holder, Mathys Boisrame which was encouraging.

Despite the reasonable gate pick, Sydow didn’t use it to his advantage in the first moto as he was just about inside the top twenty at the end of the first lap. The EMX250 races are usually pretty eventful and if you aren’t riding at your best you can get pushed around. Unfortunately, Sydow didn’t find his flow and ride at his best. Because of this he missed out on points as he could only muster a twenty-second spot.

Determined to put a bad moto behind him, the young German was motivated to put in a good result in the second moto and more importantly, ride like he knows he can.

The WZ KTM rider took the holeshot in the second moto but perhaps not being used to the pace at the very front on the first lap which is very high he got pushed back to fourth at the end of the first lap. However, putting a bad first lap behind him Sydow rode great and came home in fifth which equals his best moto result of the year – he needs to put two good ones together now!

The WZ Racing Team and Sydow will now head to Bulgaria taking place this weekend for round ten of the series and he’ll go there with a good feeling after such a good second moto.

Sydow finds himself twentieth in the EMX250 Championship standings but this year is all about learning for the 2019 season.

Sydow: “Switzerland is always my favourite GP and I already showed good speed during timed practice (P5 in my group).

In moto one, I messed up my start and didn’t have a good feeling on the bike. So, I scored no points with a 22nd place.

In moto two, I took the holeshot and rode a really good speed and was able to finish in fifth. I am really happy with that result”.
