Spanish Championship RD4: Ubach and Butron win!

Spanish Championship RD4: Ubach and Butron win!

The fourth round of the Spanish Championship took place this weekend and it was a surprise to see Iker Larranaga behind the start gate. In April, the Spaniard broke his fibula and things got even worse when he picked up an infection in his leg after an operation. He only got out of hospital a few weeks ago but he clearly wants to win that Spanish title, Iker himself admits it was a ‘crazy decision’ to ride!

However, speed certainly wasn’t a problem for the 8Biano Husky rider as he was leading the first moto before a mechanical problem meant he had to DNF. Oriol Casas who is running the #1 plate after winning the series last year ended up winning the first moto of the day and that’s his first moto win of the year after picking up an injury in winter which means he is coming into the year behind in terms of preparation.

In the second moto, Larranaga ended up winning by twenty-seconds! It’s pretty incredible considering he was in hospital two weeks before this event! He won’t return to GP action in Germany this weekend but could be back in France if he feels ready.

Simeo Ubach ended up winning the overall on the day going second and fourth in the moto’s. He also has the championship lead heading into round five.

It was a good day for Jose Butron as he dominated proceedings. He won both moto’s with Ander Valentin finishing second in both moto’s as the two GP riders were on another level.

Carlos Campano rode well to secure third overall.
