Solid start to the season for Lupino!

Alessandro Lupino of the Gebben van Venrooy Kawasaki team started his world championship season off strongly with a top ten finish at the Argentinian GP. After finishing nineteenth in the first race, the Italian gutted it out to finish tenth in the second.

Lupino was motivated to start his season off well, but he got tapped off line by the rider next to him after the start of race one. He had to fight his way forward from the back of the ranks, and he passed rider after rider to claim nineteenth and a couple of points by the end of the race.

A much better start had Lupino just outside the top ten in race two. He managed to pass Glenn Coldenhoff near the end of the race to finish tenth. His combined results netted him 15th overall for the day.

The world championship series will continue in two weeks’time at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands. The team will first participate in the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Markelo next weekend.

Alessandro Lupino: For the first GP of the year I will be satisfied. We arrived there with a good training but not a perfect performance after a crash in Riola Sardo.
The team have done a great job during the winter, they work harder and on the good way so I am really happy about that.
Overall it was a good weekend, disappointed about first moto after crash at beginning and my riding was not good enough.
But in the second moto we showed that the feeling with the bike is a lot better and we can close on the top 10 which for me is important and especially on that track as I have never had good result there before”.
